Summar Bourada (she/her)

Run Director

Ottawa, Ontario

Summar (she/her) has struggled with various health conditions for most of her life. Since experiencing debilitating pain at the age of fourteen, she has undergone two surgeries for endometriosis resulting in a confirmed diagnosis, vulvodynia, an ovarian cyst, a bilateral uterus as well as three chronic mental health issues.

In 2020, Summar built a business determined to raise awareness for endometriosis and other chronic illnesses. In her first year, she raised over $2000 for The Endometriosis Network of Canada (TENC). She has used her platform to share her story and to amplify the voices of those suffering with endometriosis, underlining the toll it takes on mental well being.

Alongside her entrepreneurial efforts to raise funds for TENC and various other Canadian charities, she helped organize The Endo Network’s Run To End Endo™ first event in Ottawa in 2023. She has also spoken at Ottawa’s Endometriosis Symposium sharing her experience living with chronic illness.

It is her hope that in sharing her story, more people will be vocal about their illnesses to improve systemic support for those struggling.

Summar is grateful to live, work and gather on the land of the Anishinabe Algonquin.
